processed food

How many times do i have to hear these words(PROCESSED FOODS) and
cringe at what i put in my body, my husbands body and Maggie's body(more importantly)...and do nothing about it.
Venting here...is everything processed? What isn't processed besides fruits and vegetables...is making stuff HOMEMADE cheaper...is pasta processed, what would i do without pasta...ok I KNOW doritoes are processed...but...is there an EASY way to change what I do and don't do...if it's not easy-ish, I probably won't do it...
am I a loser or what...???
Is there a website?? A book?? or is this just common knowledge to most people?
I grew up on processed food...frozen pizza, mountain dew, delivery pizza, chips, chips a hoy, fast food...I am doing what my mom did...it's easier...crap.
I buy 100% whole wheat bread, is bread processed? I buy cheese, every variety pretty much...jelly...peanut butter...chicken breasts...cream of mushroom soup...oh stop the madness...I haven't a clue. All joking a side, I'm not sure I know what is good and what is bad. Does everything have to actually say Organic to not be processed? Does processed and organic have nothing to do with each other really? Are the people who don't eat processed food all skinny and healthy?

I suck. Bye Bye Now.

  1. I haven't a clue...but God keeps telling me to not eat processed food and the details are vague::::shop around the perimeter of the store, eat organic when possible but especially apples & potatoes, it's processed if there's shit in it that you can't pronounce and finally, baby steps Kenj :( this is a huge change & isn't going to happen overnight::::oh and Dr. Oz's website is helpful too :)

  3. Processed food = anything your great grandma wouldn't recognized as food, generally speaking. Funny, I've been working on a post about this, but haven't had time to finsh it... Organic isn't always better, since it can be processed as well. A granola bar is processed, whether it's organic or traditional. But at least your know the organic one doesn't have chemicals in it, even if much of the nutrition has been lost. Pop Tarts contain TBHQ, which is toxic in large quantities. The gov't knows this, but just puts a limit on how much can be in something instead of outlawing it. Ick. If you want, I can give you lots of easy recipies for "real" food. It's kinda my obsession :) But it does take a bit more planning than just pulling something out of the freezer. I think it's worth it, though.
